A brand-new website has no history with search engines, so trying to do everything at once is both overwhelming and inefficient. Spreading the work across the first ninety days in the right order gets better results.
Days 1–30: get the technical foundation right
- Submit your sitemap and verify the site in Google Search Console
- Check that every page has a unique title and meta description
- Confirm there is exactly one canonical, indexable version of each page
- Fix any Core Web Vitals issues — see our Core Web Vitals guide for what to check
Days 31–60: build out content that targets real intent
Rather than publishing generic pages, focus on the handful of pages your actual customers are searching for — service pages, comparison content, and answers to the specific questions they ask before buying.
Days 61–90: earn signals and start tracking properly
Internal linking between related pages, a handful of genuine external mentions or listings, and consistent publishing all start to compound. This is also the point to set a baseline for rankings and organic traffic so you can measure progress honestly rather than guessing.
What not to do in the first 90 days
Avoid chasing dozens of keywords at once, buying low-quality backlinks, or publishing thin content purely for volume — all of these cost time now and can actively hurt you later.
